Radio to Britney: Don't 'If U Seek Amy'

(Jan. 13) - If Britney Spears goes through with releasing 'If U Seek Amy' as her comeback album's third single, as is rumored, she could find herself banned by radio stations over its transparently sexual title and chorus.
The lyrics for the song, off 'Circus,' will spell controversy, many argue: "But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy." The trick is to say the last four words fast. Get it?
Even if the song gets released, it's unlikely cost-conscious radio stations will risk FCC fines, or worse, their licenses just to play it.
John Ivey of KIIS FM in Los Angeles tells MTV that he'd have to run the song through the proper channels before allowing it on the air. "My first job is to protect [the station's] license ... It's better to be safe than sorry."
Patti Marshall, a program director for a Top 40 station in Cincinnati, told MTV that she probably wouldn't play it, and even likened Spears' lyrical stunt to "a little boy in sixth grade doing arm farts."
The gimmick joins the tradition of album titles like Van Halen's 1991 'For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.'

Britney Videos: Hot or Not?

    Video: 'Toxic' Verdict: Hot
The special effects, the silliness, the glitter and the song all mesh perfectly in Britney's sexiest grown-up clip.

    AOL Music

    Video: 'Gimme More' Verdict: Not
Britney wants to be dark and mysterious, but the whole clip comes off as Madonna 'Erotica'-lite.

    AOL Music

Video: 'Hit Me Baby (One More Time)' Verdict: Hot
In three minutes, it introduces Britney to the world, makes grown men feel dirty and causes stock in schoolgirl skirts to rise considerably.

    AOL Music

    Video: 'Sometimes' Verdict: Not
Wants to be Madonna's 'True Blue.' Comes off as true blah.

Video: 'Me Against the Music' Verdict: Hot
Britney's showdown with Madonna doesn't match the heat of their VMA kiss, but it's a blast to watch the two stars go for broke.

    Video: 'Stronger' Verdict: Not
Britney takes Madonna's 'Express Yourself' and adds a dash of Jennifer Beals' 'Flashdance' chair dance. This time, the chair wins.

    Video: 'I'm a Slave 4 U' Verdict: Not
Britney's live performance with a python at the VMAs trumps the video for the song, which comes across as 'Rhythm Nation' in the slums.

Video: 'Oops, I Did It Again' Verdict: Not
A skin-tight rubber jumpsuit can't save this clip from feeling like female *NSYNC in Space.

Video: 'I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet ...' Verdict: Hot
Britney looks like Tom Cruise in 'M:I2' out on those cliffs. But that outfit helps make the case for Britney as one of America's greatest landmarks.

    Video: 'My Prerogative' Verdict: Not
Lace getup? Check. Pool scene? Check. Too many edits to make it all resonate? Check. Her weakest song? Check.

ROFL. "NYChaseter: it's F-U-C-K-ME not suck on me !! LOL!And I don't get all the fuss over this song?? It's a great catchy, techno-beat song. How the hell is it "vulgar" compared to all these other songs blatantly about sex on the radio? Seriously... it's just because this is Britney, otherwise no one would say a shit of it.

I'm glad someone clarified what it's actually suppose to say because I have been listening to this song since before the c.d. came out and I didn't really hear anything more vulgar than the rap songs saying ho every 5 seconds.
