Jan 21st 2011 8:35PMYes, they were right to suspend the student or being disruptive and disrespectful. And the Arizona court upheld that. Their ruling was on whether the student should have been tried and found guilty of "abusing teachers or other school employees." We weren't actually in the room with the student and teacher but I tend to agree with the court that he should have just been charged with "disruptive conduct in schools." Make the punishment fit the crime.

My name is Peggy H and I was called Piggy Hog almost all the way through elementary school. I didn't want that for my child. So I spent months trying to bastardize the boy and girl names we decided on. My daughter, Bronwyn, only once had to content with someone misusing her name.

Not many people would willing make themselves the target of the hateful ways homophobes treat them. It is much better to understand that not everyone is the same and accept the differences in everyone.
