Apr 19th 2010 4:48PMAfter Gore and Quayle I thought we had hit the bottom of the barrel in VP IQs. But Biden has proved me wrong. Can you say, "Thick as a Brick".
Apr 12th 2010 10:02AMSlavery has existed for thousands of years - before the Europeans came to the Americas and, sadly, continues today. Blacks have certainly been the victims but they have also been the participants in the trade, then and now.
Having been to Africa many more times than just about all Blacks living in the U.S., I can say that the current Blacks living in the US should kiss the ground here. Conditions, are and always have been, horrendous for most blacks living in Africa.
One other interesting point, the out of wedlock birth rate for blacks (which is literally killing them today and is the single biggest cause of their plight) was one of the lowest of any ethnic group at the turn of the 20th Century. It was the dependent/frangmenting Democratic give-away programs of the mid-to-late 20th Century that really set them back.
Apr 12th 2010 9:52AMWhile no big fan of anything that reminds us of slavery, perhaps we should also ban the name Democratic Party. They were the party, in the 1860s that favored slavery and fought against its abolition. Democratic politicians during reconstruction headed the Klu Klux Klan and movements to prevent Blacks from voting/participating. During the 1960s, the Democrats, not the Republicans, were the most against the Civil Rights Act. Ergo, if we are to play the game of eliminating names/sybols due to acts committed by those long gone, then the Democratic brand name should go as well.
