The Oprah Effect: Her Endorsement Goldmine

Posted Nov 20th 2009 5:40PM By: PopEater Staff

As Oprah Winfrey rides into the final countdown of her hit talk show, businesses and entrepreneurs alike will probably pull out all the stops to get Winfrey to utter their brand name on air... even if it's just once. It's no secret that anything Oprah chats about on her show goes from rags to riches in a matter of minutes. We admire her "popular girl" power to influence her audience to buy the products she endorses. It's difficult to say if any other celebrity will take her reigning ability to shill an unknown product and make it a must-have item. Let's take a look at Winfrey's Midas touch. >>

Forgetting Where You're Playing Your Concert

Posted Nov 19th 2009 1:13PM By: Amy Wilkinson

A city by any other name certainly isn't as sweet. Just ask Bruce Springsteen. Last week (on Friday the 13th, fittingly enough) The Boss mistakenly name-checked Ohio during an Auburn Hills, Michigan concert. The 60-year-old rocker referred to the Buckeye State several times during the show's first 30 minutes before guitarist Steve Van Zandt whispered the correct locale in his ear.

A sheepish Springsteen said the mistake was "every front man's nightmare." And as it turns out, a common one among rockers and pop stars. Here are a few other confused artists who probably should have taped the city's name to the back of their guitar.

Britney Spears
With a whirlwind touring schedule in support of her latest album "Circus," it's hard to blame the pop tart for shouting out the wrong city's name onstage once. But twice? In April, Britney Spears thanked San Jose instead of its California cousin Sacramento. And oops!... she did it again two months later, though on the other side of the pond, exclaiming "What's up, London?" to fans in Manchester's packed MEN Arena.

Black Eyed Peas Try Comedy on 'SNL'

Posted Nov 15th 2009 9:34AM By: PopEater Staff

If that music thing doesn't work out, the Black Eyed Peas can always fall back on a career in comedy. The Peas were just slated to appear as musical guests on last night's 'SNL' with January Jones, but the writers made good use of the band's time. Kristen Wiig reprised her unflattering impression of Kathie Lee Gifford, who kept the Black Eyed Peas waiting too long for a 'Today' show performance... and the Peas were not amused.

The band giving "Gifford" a little 'Boom Boom Pow' right in the kisser was a highlight of our weekend. Watch the video:

No More Girl-Girl for Fergie, Thanks to Josh and Therapy

Posted Nov 11th 2009 9:08AM By: PopEater Staff

Fergie doesn't cheat on Josh Duhamel
Fergie may have dabbled in bisexuality in the past, but now that she's married to 'Transformers' hottie Josh Duhamel, it's monogamy all the way. In a very candor-filled interview with The Advocate, the real-life Stacy Ferguson says that although she digs chicks, she's learned (with the help of a therapist) that it would be cheating if she ever fooled around with the same sex.

"I've had a lot of fun with women, and I'm not ashamed of it," she says. "But just because I enjoy women doesn't mean I'm allowed to have affairs in my relationship."

The Duhamel-Stripper Tabloid Saga Continues

A simple denial of a rumored affair with a stripper apparently isn't enough these days. Josh Duhamel just can't seem to shake off the claims of exotic dancer Nicole Forrester, who claims she bedded the actor and husband to Black Eyed Peas star Fergie.

Fergie Talks Meth, Gang-Loving Past

Posted Oct 12th 2009 11:47AM By: PopEater Staff

Fergie is hands down one of the most widely heard and popular female singers on the planet, but her druggie and gang-obsessing past almost sunk her career before it hit its stride. As famous as she is, there are aspects of the 34-year-old star's past that remain cloudy, thanks to years of tabloid swirl and rumors. In a revealing interview with The Sunday Times (UK), Fergie talks about how she went from child star to meth head, and the road that led her to stability and stardom with the Black Eyed Peas.

Growing up in the LA suburbs, Stacy Ann Ferguson was a chuch-going, straight-A student when she landed a gig on 'Kids Incorporated.' After five years of being a kid star, she left and later joined R&B pop girl group, Wild Orchid.

Black Eyed Peas Set New Billboard Record

Posted Aug 25th 2009 12:10PM By: Steve Baltin

For 20 straight weeks, the Black Eyed Peas have remained No. 1 atop the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, first with 'Boom Boom Pow' for 12 weeks and now 'I Got a Feeling.' That 20 weeks is a new Billboard record, but BEP architect Will.I.Am wants you to recognize what 20 weeks actually means. "Let's break it down for what it really is: five mother-f---ing months," he tells PopEater.
