Chris Brown Not Ready for a Relationship, Just 'Chillin''

Posted Nov 17th 2009 7:37AM By: PopEater Staff

Chris Brown tells MTV News that he's not looking to get back into the dating game, just yet.

"My whole dating thing, I've been kinda chillin'," he says. "I mean, I'm Chris Brown. I'm not saying it like that, but it's just, like, girls are gonna be around. I love women. But I would say I've just been chillin'."

About to Pop: Jason Derulo

Posted Nov 12th 2009 5:00PM By: Adam Horne

Who:
Jason Derulo
Album: 'The Whatcha Say EP'
Video: 'Whatcha Say'
Hails From: Miramar, Florida
For Fans Of: Ne-Yo, Chris Brown

Why He's About to Pop: With his debut single 'Whatcha Say' tearing up the charts, Jason Derulo's face may be new on the scene, but he's been a presence in the music world since he was twelve years old, writing songs for major artists like Diddy, Lil Wayne, Danity Kane and Sean Kingston (to name a few). Throughout those years, the multi-talented artist (he can sing, dance and act also) knew something was missing. "[Songwriting] wasn't my career path, that was not my choice. It kind of just fell in my lap and was lucrative so I went with the punches," he told PopEater during a recent office visit. "I wanted to express myself ... I didn't want to be the pen behind the voice."

This revelation was nothing new. Derulo had dreams of stardom by age five, when he started mimicking his hero, Michael Jackson. "[My mother] probably brushed it off a little bit like, 'Oh that's cute.' I would just be in front of the TV practicing every single dance move and singing all the songs for weeks at a time nonstop." Years of hard work and practice have paid off, as evident in the tracks Derulo let our staff preview during his office visit. Combining club-ready beats and clever samples with infectious melodies, Derulo is armed and ready to step out in the spotlight.

Chris Brown Is Having One Rough Week

Posted Nov 6th 2009 11:59PM By: PopEater Staff

As if Chris Brown's life, image and reputation haven't been sullied enough since his brutal beating of RIhanna back in February, this week offered up a surplus of less-than-rainbows-and-puppies news for the disgraced R&B star. His quest to revamp his public persona via apologies has helped a bit, but this week, that all hit the skids thanks to a few minor hiccups (e.g., his awesomely terrible album cover) and one major one -- with Rihanna detailing his violent outburst(s) to Diane Sawyer. So, PopEater is taking a look into what may have been the worst week ever for Chris Brown.

About to Pop: Jaicko

Posted Nov 2nd 2009 5:45PM By: Ashley Iasimone

Who: Jaicko
Album: 'Can I'
Video: 'Oh Yeah'
Hails From: Barbados
For Fans Of: The Dream, Chris Brown

Why He's About to Pop:
Jaicko's Caribbean-infused pop tunes are just hitting US radio this year, but he's been building his fanbase for years. "
I released a number of songs in Barbados," Jaicko told PopEater. "We have two Top 40 radio stations, and I used to get plugged in between Rihanna and Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z."

The singer, who recently visited PopEater to preview some catchy tunes from his debut album, 'Can I,' might not be asked for as many autographs here in New York just yet, but that's bound to change. Jaicko's first single, 'Oh Yeah,' has already been remixed by Snoop, and for the album tracks that he didn't self-produce, a notable team of producers -- Stargate (Ne-Yo, Beyonce), Rob Allen (Chris Brown, Rihanna) and Jim Jonson (Lil Wayne) -- lent a hand.

"The reason why I decided to name the album 'Can I' was because I was doing music from nine years old. I'm 18 now," Jaicko said. "From then 'til now, I went through a lot of struggles both personally and being in the music industry. That kind of motivated me to write the track. I think a lot of people will be able to relate to it ... I think the world needs a real track like that, coming from someone young." Check out an exclusive interview with Jaicko after the jump, and keep an eye out for his album, which is set to be released this winter.
