Posted Nov 25th 2009 4:00AM By: PopEater Staff

Last week, PopEater teamed up with NiceOne! to see how celebrities sized up this year by letting our readers vote on various Thanksgiving polls -- and apparently they've all had enough of Kanye West, naming him 2009's Biggest Turkey. With 42% of the total votes, he beat out the likes of Spencer Pratt and Jon Gosselin. We're pretty sure our readers still haven't forgiven him for stealing the mic during Taylor Swift's VMAs acceptance speech. See which celebrities topped this year's official PopEater polls. >>

Sex Songs: The 69 Steamiest Tunes ... Ever

Posted Nov 17th 2009 5:37PM By: PopEater Staff

From George Michael to Madonna, everyone loves a good sex song. These timeless tracks are not your typical sentimental love tunes -- they're all about getting in the mood. Do you agree with our list of sexy songs? After reading through our picks, let us know which sexy songs should have made the cut.

69. George Michael, 'I Want Your Sex'

In '87, when the man from Wham! dropped this seductive hit (which he then claimed was about monogamy), many thought it was his attempt to woo the pants off of actress Brooke Shields. Once he got caught looking for gay nookie in public bathrooms years later, many realized they'd thought wrong. -- M. Tye Comer
Sexiest Lyric: "Don't you know I love you 'til it hurts me baby/Don't you think it's time you had sex with me?"

68. Nelly Furtado, 'Promiscuous'

Nelly told us that this song title -- and that of her 2006 album 'Loose' -- refers to her "really relaxed and free" approach to making music. Sounds nice, but after hearing the song's deliciously irresponsible lyrics, we can't help but think that she didn't tell us the whole story. -- Kim Davis
Sexiest Lyric: "Promiscuous boy, you already know/That I'm all yours. What you waiting for?"

67. Mazzy Star, 'Fade Into You'

More sensitive than sexy, this sad and sultry 1994 alterna-hit is the soundtrack to candlelit dorm-room grope sessions across the country. It's still the go-to track when theater majors are looking to score. -- Jason Persse
Sexiest Lyric: "I want to hold the hand inside you/I want to take a breath that's true"

Celebritiy Do-Gooders Set High Standards for Hollywood Activism

Posted Nov 3rd 2009 3:28PM By: Jo Piazza

There is no doubt that new school Hollywood looks up to the old school when it comes to charting their career paths. Brooke Shields' time at Princeton was an inspiration to young actresses like Claire Danes, Natalie Portman and Emma Watson who took a detour into the Ivy Leagues before building their careers.

Every young starlet and actor wants the career arc of Hollywood legends like Katharine Hepburn and Robert Redford. Frankly PopEater believes that Elizabeth Taylor paved the path for today's young celebs to have multiple marriages. But young bold-facers look to the legends for more than just career, fashion and marital guidance. They want to know how to give like their idols; give their time, their purpose and the value of their famous names. Celebs have long attached their fame to various causes (the iconic Audrey Hepburn was a long-time champion for UNICEF), but the celebrity-charity connection these days is stronger than ever. After the jump we take a look at some of the do-gooding role models who are laying the ground work for a younger generation of activists.

Ethan Hawke Supports Madonna Supporting Gypsies

Posted Nov 1st 2009 9:24AM By: PopEater / Wire Services

At an August concert in Bucharest on her "Sticky & Sweet" tour, Madonna called for an end to widespread discrimination against Eastern Europe's Gypsies - and her stance provoked boos from thousands of fans in Romania. Now 'Reality Bites' star Ethan Hawke, visiting Romania to help promote his mother's charity supporting education for Gypsy children, placed the pop superstar alongside Bob Marley and John Lennon as part of a tradition of artists speaking out against racism.

Britney's '3' and the Most Blatantly Sexual Pop Songs

Posted Oct 30th 2009 11:59PM By: PopEater Staff

Sexuality has always been Britney Spears' best weapon, and that's never been more true with the release of her video for '3' -- a song that's essentially a 4-minute manifesto on threesomes. While Miss Spears certainly can craft a steamy tune, there's a long line of sexually-charged pop hits that have made America's airwaves a little uncomfortable (and excited). Allow PopEater to break down the most sex-in-your-face pop songs:

Britney Spears: '3'

We wonder if Peter, Paul and Mary ever dreamed that their names would be used synonymously with a menage-a-trois ... or if the mention would be a # 1 hit.

Steamy Lyric:
"If you don't like the company / Let's just do it you and me / You and me / Or three / Or four ... On the floor "

On Broadway, Bumpy Ride for Some Stars

Posted Oct 29th 2009 9:00PM By: Tricia Romano

Matthew Broderick just can't catch a break. Though the actor has a long history on Broadway, lately it seems he gets a beating pretty much every time he steps on stage. Though he had a great run with 'The Producers' in 2001 with Nathan Lane, his latest, 'Starry Messenger,' was actually delayed after he and several other actors required the use of an off-stage prompter. And earlier this year he was in 'The Philanthropist,' which garnered a smackdown from the New York Times that read: "Mr. Broderick seems to be in his own play, some sort of sendup of a crummy farce from the British provinces circa 1930."

"Mr. Broderick" is just one of many movie stars taking a turn on the stage. Stars like Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kathleen Turner, and Denzel Washington have long histories in theatre. And actors like Jude Law, Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman get mostly good reviews -- helped greatly by the strength of their material. Not everyone is so lucky. We take a look back at some of the successful and not-so-successful runs of other movie stars hoping to flex their acting chops on Broadway.

Sex Scandal: Angelina Slept With Mom's Boyfriend

Posted Oct 27th 2009 9:48AM By: Chris Jancelewicz

According to celeb gossip website RadarOnline, controversial writer Andrew Morton has revealed in his latest biography that sexy actress Angelina Jolie bedded her mother's boyfriend. Not that shocking, right? What about the fact that Angie was only 16 years old at the time?

British tabloids claim that Jolie and her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, could not come to terms with each other after the Academy-Award-winning star confessed to the act; they struggled to repair their tumultuous relationship - hence all the pussyfooting around the issue of their relationship when Bertrand was alive.

Madonna Is Getting Schooled In Malawi

Posted Oct 26th 2009 4:11PM By: PopEater Staff

Madonna flew to Malawi to visit the girls school her charity is building, reported the BBC.

"It's an honor for me to be able to help as many of these girls as I can achieve their dreams," she stated through her website.

The Raising Malawi Academy for Girls will prepare impoverished children for careers in education, law or medicine. It is located on the outskirts of Lilongwe, the southeast African country's capital. Raising Malawi, Madonna's charity, provides education, food, housing and other support in the country.

Who Needs Last Names? Not These Stars

Posted Oct 26th 2009 12:45PM By: Tricia Romano

It used to be that very few stars went by a single name. Madonna started her career as simply Madonna (and good thing too; having to say Madonna Louise Ciccone every time we talked about her would be a mouthful). But over time, and with the advent of more and more gossip magazines and blogs, features like, "Stars -- They're Just Like Us!" -- stars have increasingly become referred to on a first name basis. We've singled out the biggies, starting with ...

Cher
Cher had her last name officially dropped in 1979; in some ways, it was a mere formality: she had been known to most of the general public as Cher since the show 'Sonny and Cher'; and her two given last names, LaPierre and Sarkisan, weren't as simple as Bono. So when she divorced Sonny, it seemed easier to go with Cher.

All-Madonna Episode Ahead on 'Glee'?

Posted Oct 22nd 2009 8:00AM By: PopEater Staff

Get ready 'Glee' fans -- the Queen of Pop is coming. Madonna has given 'Glee' the rights to her entire catalog and an all-Madonna-music episode is in the works for early next year, Entertainment Weekly reports. No news has been released about what tracks will be included, but we're sure the cast would do 'Like A Virgin' or 'Material Girl' justice. The musical comedy-drama TV series has been gaining momentum, and the Queen of Pop is only the beginning of artists hoping to collaborate with the show.

Neighbors Threaten to Evict Madonna

Posted Oct 19th 2009 7:01AM By: PopEater / Wire Services

One of Madonna's New York neighbors says the superstar's loud music and frequent dance sessions are causing a commotion.

Karen George, who lives above Madonna in a building on Central Park, said in a lawsuit filed Friday against the building's co-op board stating that the 'Material Girl' is using her apartment as a rehearsal studio, forcing neighbors to endure "blaring music, stomping and shaking walls," for up to three hours each day. The building's board says it has already threatened to evict Madonna.

'Work Saved Me,' Madonna Says After Tough Year

Posted Oct 14th 2009 10:30AM By: PopEater Staff

Madonna knows a thing or two about gracing the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. After all, she's done it 12 times. In the latest, the pop icon declares her love for "fearless and funny" Lady Gaga, lets slip that she feels "retarded" singing poppy hits like 'Into the Groove' and tries to atone for a decade of fashion, especially that "fluorescent-green sweater combo." On more serious matters, Madonna talks about the "pros and cons" of divorce and that if she hadn't pushed so hard with her work, she "may have thrown myself off a building."

Check out some choice quotes from the RS interview and a few of her best covers over the years, after the jump.

Is Kate Hudson Responsible for A-Rod's Boost at the Plate?

Posted Oct 9th 2009 4:30PM By: PopEater Staff

UPDATE: A-Rod Drives in 3 Runs in the ALDS Game Two, Including a Game-Tying, Two-Run Homer in the 9th

The New York Yankees came out looking strong against the Minnesota Twins in their first game of the ALDS with a 7-2 victory. A major factor in the win was the performance of Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez, who broke a postseason slump of 0 for 19 with runners in scoring positiom, with two hits and 2 RBIs. He looked calm and determined, not pressing like in failed playoff runs past and one must wonder what caused the difference. The protection he's getting from Mark Teixeira batting in front of him? The admission to steroid use before this season that cleared his conscience? Many would argue that the real cause was sitting in the stands cheering him on: girlfriend Kate Hudson.
