Sex Songs: The 69 Steamiest Tunes ... Ever

Posted Nov 17th 2009 5:37PM By: PopEater Staff

From George Michael to Madonna, everyone loves a good sex song. These timeless tracks are not your typical sentimental love tunes -- they're all about getting in the mood. Do you agree with our list of sexy songs? After reading through our picks, let us know which sexy songs should have made the cut.

69. George Michael, 'I Want Your Sex'

In '87, when the man from Wham! dropped this seductive hit (which he then claimed was about monogamy), many thought it was his attempt to woo the pants off of actress Brooke Shields. Once he got caught looking for gay nookie in public bathrooms years later, many realized they'd thought wrong. -- M. Tye Comer
Sexiest Lyric: "Don't you know I love you 'til it hurts me baby/Don't you think it's time you had sex with me?"

68. Nelly Furtado, 'Promiscuous'

Nelly told us that this song title -- and that of her 2006 album 'Loose' -- refers to her "really relaxed and free" approach to making music. Sounds nice, but after hearing the song's deliciously irresponsible lyrics, we can't help but think that she didn't tell us the whole story. -- Kim Davis
Sexiest Lyric: "Promiscuous boy, you already know/That I'm all yours. What you waiting for?"

67. Mazzy Star, 'Fade Into You'

More sensitive than sexy, this sad and sultry 1994 alterna-hit is the soundtrack to candlelit dorm-room grope sessions across the country. It's still the go-to track when theater majors are looking to score. -- Jason Persse
Sexiest Lyric: "I want to hold the hand inside you/I want to take a breath that's true"

Does 64-year-old Hot Rod Stewart have another baby in him? Rod and third wife Penny Lancaster, 38, are looking to add one more child to his brood of seven.

"Yes, we're trying – we actually tried last night!" Stewart exclaimed on the British talk show GMTV. "One more and then we're going to close the office."

The joys of fatherhood appeal to the British-born rock legend. But his native roots pose challenges. He is struggling to teach his youngest son Alastair soccer. The boy, his only child with Lancaster, will turn 4 later this month.

Why He's About to Pop:
Brad Skistimas, the 26-year-old musician behind Five Times August, boasts over 65 song placements in TV and film, and was the first unsigned artist to have an album sold in Wal-Mart. Since the release of his debut album, 2005's 'Fry Street,' the singer-songwriter has made his music career happen on his own. Skistimas does everything from writing and performing his music to handling his own licensing, merchandise, tour bookings and promotions. "There are two sides to my career," Skistimas tells PopEater. "One is being the artist, and the other is taking care of the business."

As busy as he may be, Skistimas has the drive and creativity to be successful without the backing of a major label. After collecting the best tracks from his first two albums, Skistimas re-recorded them with producer Andy Zulla (Kelly Clarkson, Rod Stewart) for his new release, 'Life as a Song.' Over the summer, Skistimas partnered with Kickstarter.com, a funding platform for upcoming artists. With support from his fans, Skistimas raised $20,000 to go toward his album's release in only a month's time.

"It's hard to stay ahead of the game," Skistimas says, "but being independent also means you usually don't have the same funding as major label artists. You've got to think of new innovative ways to promote yourself. Think thrifty, and try things that have never been done before. It's all about experimenting. "
