When Celebs and Designers Unite: the Good, the Bad, the Ungaro

From Lindsay Lohan "helping" Ungaro to Hayden Panettiere guest-designing for Dooney & Burke, high-profile partnerships between celebrities and fashion designers have become the trend du jour. Almost every week, a new star adds "fashion designer" to her resume by teaming up with an established design house and releasing a collection.

This week, Elle Magazine highlighted the latest celebrity/design house collaboration -- this one between British pop tart Lily Allen and high-end fashion powerhouse Chanel led by style icon Karl Lagerfeld (more here). While we like this particular pairing (charming-yet-outrageous singer meets stylish grandpa!), we can't help but remember past star/designer unions. Some were fabulous ... and some were, well ... Here, we take a quick look back.

John Mayer's new album, the smart, sophisticated, and sweet 'Battle Studies,' has just been released. And no one is happier than Mayer himself. "I have no problem releasing it into the open and letting everybody have at it, poke the bear with sticks -- and that's the fun of it," he told Popeater when we went to visit him at the Burbank, Calif., studio where he was rehearsing for an upcoming tour. Mayer, of course, is used to having every aspect of his life poked with a camera these days. He spoke with Popeater about why he can't complain about that in song, how the whole music industry may one day be working for Taylor Swift and his epiphany moment with the new record.
 

Lindsay Lohan Has Alleged Meltdown... Over Paying For Drinks

If recent reports of Lindsay Lohan's bar behavior are true, the 'Mean Girls' star is in need of an emergency reality check. According to PEOPLE, a Los Angeles bar has claimed that Lohan drank her way through two bottles of champagne, but flipped out when it came time to pay the bill. "When the bartender gave her a bill, she had a meltdown," an onlooker told the magazine. "She was yelling at him and screaming profanities at everyone."

According to shocking photos on celeb gossip/news site RadarOnline.com, celebrity train wreck Lindsay Lohan is cutting her wrists. The starlet has been going through a rough time as of late, with her disastrous turn on the fashion runway and the internet-wide release of a voicemail that has her sobbing uncontrollably, not to mention her father Michael Lohan's constant meddling in her affairs.

Lindsay's family war has exploded publicly, and RadarOnline.com has shocking photos that show scars on her wrists, apparently backing up Dina Lohan's claim that Lindsay is a cutter.
 

Lindsay Lohan's Ungaro Fashion Debut Was a 'Disaster,' Says Ungaro

"Lindsay Lohan's collaboration was a disaster." That's the blunt assesment given by Emanuel Ungaro, the founder of the couture house that hired the actress to advise them on a fashion line last month.

"I am furious but I can't do anything about it," fumed the designer during a meeting on Monday night at a film festival in Lisbon. Ungaro, who no longer has any contact with the fashion house that bears his name, said his creation is "in the process of losing its soul," as a result of the Lohan hiring.

The 'Mean Girls' star, 23, worked alongside designer Estrella Archs as a style consultant and debuted her first collection during Paris Fashion Week last month. The work was almost universally panned as an "embarrassment" by the international fashion press.

We at PopEater firmly believe the first rule of being a celebrity is simple: Don't make a sex tape. You never know where that sexy romp in Cabo is going to show up right before you accept your first Academy Award. But the second rule of being a celebrity or even of working with celebrities is this: If you don't want the world to hear about it, don't leave it in a voicemail message. The world's worst father Michael Lohan has been releasing every personal voicemail dealing with his daughter Lindsay Lohan ever recorded on his phone (he must not have an iPhone because our messages get erased after 30 days).

Hopefully people will stop leaving Papa Lohan such scandalous messages, but we highly doubt that is going to happen, which is why we want to take a look back at past celebrity voicemail leaks to show everyone that unfortunately, in Hollywood, history just keeps repeating itself.

Lindsay Lohan Calls Her Dad a Loser

After Michael Lohan released recorded tapes of his daughter Lindsay Lohan's cries for help, the 'Mean Girls' actress struck back at her father, branding him a "loser."

"My fathers [sic] such a loser & those recordings are from years ago," Lohan tweeted. "To release personal things is foul enough, but to edit them ..."

Last week, police arrested five teens and one 27-year-old man on suspicion of burglarizing homes in the Hollywood Hills belonging to Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Megan Fox, Brian Austin Green, Ashley Tisdale, Rachel Bilson and more. The culprits, they say, are the 'Burglar Bunch' - and the Internet. Police now the teens scoured celebrity blogs and Web sites, looking for valuables, and then used the Internet to find where the stars lived.
 

Teen Burglary Ring Rooted in Friendship

The world is learning more about the gang of suspects arrested on suspicion of burglarizing Lindsay Lohan and other Hollywood Hills celebs. Police say the group, dubbed the 'Burglar Bunch,' may have been involved with similar heists involving Audrina Patridge, Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom and Rachel Bilson.

One of the suspects, 18-year-old Alexis Neirs, is the sister of Playboy model Tess Taylor and the subject of a reality show pilot for E!, called 'Home-Schooling With the Arlingtons.' Sources tell PEOPLE that Neirs was in the middle of filming the show when the raid occurred and cameras may have kept rolling all the way to jail.
