(Oct. 3) -- If those who follow 'The View' know one thing about Elisabeth Hasselbeck, it's that she's not afraid to speak her mind when it comes to her conservative viewpoints. So, when rumors that she planned to leave the daytime chat show for a gig at the Fox News Channel, it didn't sound too out of place. But don't believe the hype, Hasselbeck -- or at least her publicist -- is saying.
"While Elisabeth [Hasselbeck] has a great relationship with Fox News, there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that she is leaving 'The View,'" said Hasselbeck's agent, Babette Perry, who goes on to say that Hasselbeck "is passionate in her beliefs and enjoys being a part of this dynamic group of women and engaging in daily conversations." Hasselbeck's political views often become hot topics among the 'View' panel, often making for great television when she and former host Rosie O'Donnell would frequently butt heads. Hasselbeck's temperance and views purportedly were a reason O'Donnell left the show after just one season.

The latest spat on 'The View' is nothing compared to some other outrageous moments the talk show has had over the years. Click through to see AOL Television's break down of the gabfest's top ten biggest shockers.

    ABC

    10. Flat Earth Society: When she joined the show, Sherri Shepherd told her co-hosts she wasn't a political junkie and promised to get up to speed on current events for their daily hot topics discussions. But who could've guessed that Shepherd was so, um, geographically challenged? A debate on evolution led to the declaration that she didn't know if the world was flat or round.

    9. Rosie Rips Ripa, Ripa Rips Rosie: When Rosie O'Donnell accused Kelly Ripa of being homophobic after Ripa dissed Clay Aiken for covering her mouth with his hand, O'Donnell not only offended Ripa, but also implied something about Aiken's sexuality that he has never publicly confirmed. Ripa got her revenge, though, calling into 'The View' and labeling O'Donnell's accusation "outrageous."

    8. Babs Makes a Boob of Herself: On a May 2005 show,Barbara Walters dissed a woman who, while on the same airplane as Babs, had publicly nursed her baby. The comment set off a wave of backlash and "lactivism" -- 200 women showed up outside ABC studios in New York and very publicly breastfed their infants (good thing Walters hadn't dissed the woman for changing a dirty diaper.)

    Evan Agostini, AP

    7. The 'I Do' Adieu? Before Star Jones' ill-fated 2004 nuptials, she offended media watchers, her co-stars and good taste by soliciting wedding freebies that she then mentioned on air. The tacky habit reportedly led to her 'View' downfall, but not till after she'd wrangled free invites, tuxedos, bridesmaid dresses and other goodies. She now blames the failure of her marriage on "letting the media in" to her relationship.

    Yolanda Perez, ABC

    6. Whoopi's in the Doghouse: Controversy didn't leave the building with O'Donnell's departure. On Whoopi Goldberg's first day as moderator, she made comments that many pet lovers took to mean she was defending NFL-er Michael Vick for dogfighting. She clarified that she only meant to put his actions into context, and ended up offending Southerners in the process. Outraged 'View'ers, meet Whoopi.

    Steve Fenn, AP

    5. Whoopi Hassles the Hasselbeck: A discussion on a proposed Hillary Clinton "baby bond" turned into a tense discussion of abortion between Elisabeth and Goldberg during an Oct. 2007 Hot Topics segment, with Goldberg telling Hasselbeck to "back off" and show reverence for women who had found themselves in the position of considering an abortion.

    4. Elisabeth Can Hassle Back: You have to hand it to Elisabeth -- love her or hate her, she gives as good as she gets. Like during a heated discussion with Sandra Bernhard, who'd quipped that Laura Bush was "heavily medicated." Elisabeth, clearly ticked off, told Bernhard to stop calling her "honey"; the tension led Joy Behar to walk off the set temporarily ... and 'View' fans to turn up the volume.

    3. Star's War: Star Jones made a surprise announcement on the June 27, 2006, episode: She was leaving. Also a surprise to Babs and her co-stars: An interview Jones gave right before the show, in which she said she'd actually been fired. That kicked off a war of words that played out in the media, and the June 27 show was Jones' last.

    ABC

    2. The Donald Vs. O'Donnell: There was no winner in the insult war between O'Donnell and Donald Trump, especially not viewers, who were treated to an ongoing brouhaha that only served to show how many ways Rosie could mock Trump's wealth and comb over, and how many synonyms for the words "fat" and "loser" he could mine from his thesaurus.

To Shanetharan and those who thinks just like him/her. Eliz and her non-football playing husband can go to Fox and won't be missed. And as for the working class, I'm a working person and can afford DVR and watch from my home, need to look around the audience and see your face there and on Oprah looking for hand out. I can agree to disagree and don't like McCain, I don't hate him. But what Eliz and your kind can't see in yourself or is pure personal hatered. Educate your ignorant a** and get to back to work, at McDonalds.

Anyone who watches the View and thinks Liz is smart is nuts. Her, Rush, Hannidy, O'riley, and the whole Fox news channel are sickening. The View would be so much better off, and get better ratings without that wench on there. Send her to Fox where she belongs, and everyone will agree with her viewpoint. Anyone who votes for McCain is insane, and I really think he has very little chance of winning anyway.

I say good she is leaving, Why put up with a bunch brain dead women that are liberals that can't see the forrest for the tree's ..their mindset is such they are all blind to the TRUTH and the truth hurt's, Myself I would rather have an ounce of thuth than a pound of lies form a liberal that can't see what the problem is in america, they all have gotten away for the founding father idea's of goverment they have been told a lie for so long they believe it, o yes can these women read or study how this nation was founded, I gues they are to lazy they would have someone tell them how to THINK, instead of renewing their MINDS to the truth.

She leaving "The View", GOOD!. I couldn't be more happier to see that racist go!She brought nothing but negativity to the show. Most of McCain supporters are negative & racist, and yes, he condones it. We don't need a president like him. OBAMA/BIDEN 2008

I don't watch The View, but I can't wait for Obama to win the election, so that Hasselbeck's co-hosts can rub it in her face. She'll probably leave the show soon after, cause she wont be able to handle the fact that most don't share her "views..."
