NEW YORK (Nov. 25) - Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity is losing his liberal half. Alan Colmes of the network's "Hannity & Colmes" said Monday that he'll be leaving the prime-time show after 12 years. He'll continue as a commentator on Fox programs, keep doing his radio show and is developing a weekend show at Fox.

"We have a Democratic House, Senate and president," Colmes said in an interview. "My work is done."
Colmes said he approached an executive Fox earlier this year about wanting to try something different and ending his time on the show, which airs live each weeknight. He said he was "looking forward to having dinner with my wife a couple of times a week."
Their show is second only to Fox's "The O'Reilly Factor" in prime-time cable ratings, and competes against Rachel Maddow on MSNBC and Larry King on CNN.
No decision has been made on who will replace Colmes, or whether he will be replaced at all.
Hannity has been the bigger star in media circles and recently signed a contract extension. Hannity also does his own solo weekend show at Fox.

I first met Alan Colmes many years ago when I appeared on his ABC radio program as The Street Economist, a character which was popular at the time and featured on network television as well. Alan is a quintessential gentleman and a knowledgeable and poignant media commentator. I have no way of realizing the reason for his departure from Hannity and Colmes but I notice that the show was and would be better off with Alan as the countervailing Liberal to Hannity as opposed to what is my belief that Geraldo Rivera is now acting in proxy. In my opinion and if I am right, this Is a big mistake. Geraldo as an attorney and a New York City legendary tough guy reporter used to be much more conservative at least as it appeared on Fox than he is presenting now. The arguments between Hannity and Rivera are much too loud and contentious and may irritate viewers as opposed to the more amiable and mannered Alan Colmes. I enjoy watching Fox News programs and as a freelance writer have posts on Fox blog...

I wonder if the new administration will allow this? After all, FOX presents both sides and some in Congress and some in major media outlets do not want to hear from the "Right" at all. When the "Fairness Doctrine" is passed, we will be rid of hearing from the "Right", and will only hear what the "Left" wants us to hear. We will learn to drink the Kool Aid and walk toward the light.

Good riddance to bad garbage. My hats off to Hannity for his restraint. I would have throttled that sanctimonious little twit in the first year.....

DLTANNER7 09:24 AMNov 26 2008 LMAO at the posts here, FOX news is the television version of The National Enquirer. All show and blow. If it wasn't for the "liberal left" Fox news would be like their sister stations in Iraq. Censored and shut down by the Bush regime broadcasting only what the "right wing facists" want reported................................................................ ................................................................I love the way you liberal numbnuts bash Fox News. If you watched the show instead of listening to those pathetic liberal stations: CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC and CBS...ya know...the butt kissers that followed Hussein around like puppy dogs....NEVER had a decent thing to say about McCain and you call that CRAP fair and balanced??? If you watched Fox News you'd see that they have Dumbocraps/LIERbles on all the time. That's right...Fox News actually tortures us with Dems/Libs blithering and idiotic views on a daily basis.

An irritant left on his own free will. What a joy to hear. A word to Sean Hannity dont talk a subject dead. It is irritating to hear a subject being repeated over and over again. Then there is the subject Juran v.d. Sloot with Greta v. Susteren. Keep the creep of the airways. Do not let this "smart" idiot blackmail you into paying him for airspace. The guy is a born liar and need the money to pay for his legal bills. Your money will keep him out of jail. That guy is a curse to his parents. I am Dutch and understand every word Juran said to his father on the phone. But I think it is an concocted story. It is not the father he is talking too. It is one of his cohort buddies.

Maybe now I can watch this show. It was extremely uncomfortable watching Alan Colmes stand up for the democrats on some really far out stands on issues. Listening to an apparently intelligent man, like Colmes, coming up with statements that were devoid of logic or historical bearing was worse than listening to finger nails on a chalk board. I wish him luck in his future endeavors. Hopefully, James Carville will NOT be his replacement. Carville is verifiably insane.
