(Nov. 18) - Ricky Gervais has set his sights on bringing "Extras" back for a new one-off episode, despite hinting in the past that he was done with the hit comedy about struggling actors, according to reports.

'Is He Having a Laugh?'

'That Was Unlucky'
The comedian, who also starred in the original version of "The Office," told a British morning show that he has a "rough storyline" drafted that involves his character, Andy Millman, giving it a go in Hollywood.
He admitted to previously saying he "probably wouldn't" revisit the show, but he "never said never" like with his earlier BBC hit.
Gervais called the prospect of putting Millman in Hollywood "just too good to pass up" and that he has many A-listers in mind that he'd like to approach for guest roles. "I've got my sights set on a few people. Al Pacino, I've got a good idea for," he said.
"We thought it would be good for Andy to try to make it in Hollywood, because then he's starting again -- and if you think entertainment's cruel [in Britain], it's just a completely different kettle of fish there."
He added: "I miss 'Extras' more than 'The Office' and also, I think it's got more legs than 'The Office.'"
For two critically acclaimed seasons, "Extras" followed the careers of Millman and his friend Maggie Jacobs, played by Ashley Jensen. In the show's second year, Millman found success on a "s--tcom" known more for silly wigs and lame catchphrases ("Are you having a laugh?" -- "I don't get it!") than a clever wit. The series ended in late 2007 with Andy and Maggie driving to the airport.

Extras is a very funny, unique show. There are not many intelligent comedies on TV, so I was sad to see this end. Ricky Gervais, Ashley Jensen, Stephen Merchant and Shaun Williamson (I learned how important it is to mention actors names correctly), were excellent portraying their roles, along with the occasional guest celebrity and extras! Happy to hear this may be returning.

Alan B. I could not agree with you moe. So many people feel the need to comment on things they know nothing about. If you've never seen the show , how can you have an opinion? Big fan of the show and thrilled to hear he may be coming back.

12 comments of which only 3 appear to be from people who know what the hell they're talking about. I'd say 75% noise is about average for an AOL message board. And as a fan of Extras, I'll say that there's enough in Hollywood for another 12 BBC episodes from Gervais, 6 of Andy struggling, 6 of Andy succeeding and crashing, or at least 5 seasons of your usual diluted US ripoff, which might be a good show for some of the seasons.
