(Oct. 7) - David Letterman could be ready to shake and make nice with John McCain, two weeks after the Arizona senator nixed his visit to the Ed Sullivan theater in favor of a serious sit-down with Katie Couric.

The McCain camp is in talks with "Late Show" producers to schedule an interview around the time of the final presidential debate, on Oct. 15, being held at nearby Hofstra University on Long Island, the New York Post is reporting.
Representative for both parties have declined to comment on the possible reconciliation.
Letterman has been fuming since McCain canceled his scheduled appearance on Sept. 24 in order to focus on the financial crisis. McCain told the funnyman that he needed to race back to Washington, but during that night's show, Letterman aired live footage of the candidate being prepped for an interview with CBS News anchor Couric.
“He doesn’t seem to be racing to the airport,” Mr. Letterman observed.
The next day, McCain spokeswoman Nicolle Wallace said the campaign felt it "wasn't a night for comedy."

I hope Dave shames him a bit more. He needs to get Tina Fey with more of her satire. It would be more entertaining and educational than the McCain/Palin ticket.

Okay, Okay.......David Letterman should get soon-to-be-Ex-Vice-Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin on his Show.....SHE WON'T Accept the INVITATION, unless her husband is Also on the show to Coach her, and/or to come onto the set from the Green Room to Punch Letterman's Lights Out for trying to HUG HER TOO CLOSE!!That's Right....it's OKAY for JOHN McCain to DO IT, but not David Letterman....("you look like a guy who entertains himself in a Hot Tub by watching his swimming trunks inflate"--Now That's a ZINGER!!)

I don't think the issue is "liberal or conservative" here...who can do the job is the issue, and I don't think four more years of the same thing we've had is the answer, and I think that's what McCain will bring us.

For those of you complaining that Dave Letterman is just whining. I think it is more about the fact the John McCain LIED. All McCain had to say was that "we're in a crisis and I think to speak to the American People about this and not be a funny man tonight". It's about the lie. I am uncommited at the moment so, I would say the same thing about Obama if he had done the same thing. I believe that right now that all American's want is some GD HONESTY!!

I stopped watching Letterman since his show became an infomercial for Obama! If he isn't bashing the Repubs, he's boring us to tears with talk about his son. Time for him to retire. Give it up for Craig Ferguson-a hundred times funnier and the best late night comedian on TV!!

I think McCain should have been honest and not lied about going to Washington. Letterman has been totally bashing Gov. Palin, so I think SHE should appear on his show. I'd love to see Dave backing down then!
