McCain to Face the Wrath of Letterman

LOS ANGELES (Oct. 13) - After being ridiculed by David Letterman when he pulled out of a show appearance to deal with the financial crisis three weeks ago, Republican presidential candidate John McCain has re-booked his 'Late Show' gig for this Thursday night.
The first time around, McCain abruptly canceled his 'Late Show' appearance as well as his campaign to aid in pushing through the emergency bailout package. This led to a barrage of taunts and jokes from Letterman, who asked: "Are we suspending it because there's an economic crisis or because the poll numbers are sliding?"
Good Times
Bad Times

McCain's last-minute cancellation drew relentless ribbing from Letterman, who suggested the senator's move was a political stunt that ran contrary to the Vietnam War veteran's status as an "American hero."
"I'm more than a little disappointed by this behavior," Letterman said.
Later in the program, Letterman learned McCain was still in New York, several blocks away, preparing for an interview with CBS News anchor Katie Couric, while a live internal network video feed showed the politician having makeup applied.
"He doesn't seem to be racing to the airport, does he?" Letterman said, shouting at the TV monitor, "Hey John, I got a question! You need a ride to the airport?"

Letterman has since taken numerous on-air shots at McCain for standing him up last month.
McCain's newly scheduled visit to the show on Thursday, a day after his third and final nationally televised debate with Democrat Barack Obama, will mark the Republican's 13th guest appearance on Letterman and the first since he formally accepted his party's nomination.
Obama appeared on the "Late Show" Sept. 10, during which he sought to clarify a controversial "lipstick on a pig" remark that drew fire from Republicans.
There was no word yet on whether McCain will be bringing Letterman any sort of peace offering.

In the old days the Republicans didn't get much right, but they did get the economy right. The way they are blaming the Democrats is so funny. The Bush economic plan was a time bomb waiting to happen. I saw it coming 2 years ago. I told my Republican friend then that we were heading into a recession and he laughed and said I was crazy. If I knew then Bush had to know, he just hoped that he would be out of office before it happened. Now the Democrats have to clean up his mess. This all started with Regan my friend.

How desperate must McCain be to book a spot on Letterman? After the way Dave has been blasting him since the last attempt, when McCain had to cancel in order to fly back to DC and save the free world, but not right away. McCain should just book an appearance on Nov.5 if there's something he really needs to say to a talk-show host, and let Letterman ***** for ratings elsewhere. Unless, of course, Dave's not the only ***** in this transaction.

So the republicans are to blame for the economy? Wher was the stock market and what was the unemployment rate before the elections of Pelosi and the new Democrats in the Congress? Oh, thats' right....14,000 and 4%. So since the democrats took control we have taken a financial nosedive...and THIS is the republicans fault? Finally, Pgrlights, why such an ignorant hateful comment? If that is the extent of your ability to communicate, you need to return to the first grade. I don't hate Democrats....I just think the truth is being twisted again to suit their purpose. Hopefully the majority of voters see through the smokescreen and choose experience, service and accomplishment over abucket of empty promises.

toogeorge , all politicos lie alot but one thing that obama has won in both debates is the most lies told. Even your left wing pundents have admited that. So if you are dumb enough to believe in obama I guess you deserve what you get, the man has never done anything in his life that was not self serving. At least McCain with the faults that he carries and they are not few, has served the greater good for most of his adult life. And people that talk about Palin's experience who are on the side of Obama need to look at the facts, she has more than he does, talk about being a heart beat from having a president with no experience we are closer than that if obama wins this election. You can't factually argue that point it is public record, I know that it is a hard pill to swallow but the truth is the truth. Obama has no executive experience at all, no military experience at all, no financial experience at all, no foriegn policy experience at all, so what do you hang your hat on, a rack wit...
