Bollea was arrested last year after authorities say he sped through a busy street and crashed his father's car, critically injuring a friend and former Marine.
He could have faced five years in prison, but the victim's family requested a lesser sentence.
Nick's sister, Brooke, showed her support for her brother in a MySpace blog entry this week that also singled out critics of the famous family.
"Some people wish terrible terrible things on us and say the the most nasty comments that I can't even repeat on here... It really hurts. I understand people have their own opinion, but most of the people that come up to us don't know the whole story," Brooke writes.
Bollea was suppose to serve an 8-month sentence. Brooke implies on her blog that Nick has been "living on bread and potatoes" and "some mac'n'cheese (sic) is gonna hit the spot."
"I just can't wait to see my Nicky! I'm going to make him every kind of food you can possibly think of," Brooke wrote.
"I feel sorry for the people who are misinformed. All I ask, is instead of making this harder and putting evil things out there, you pray for John and for us and leave words of inspiration. Please pray for my brothers (sic) safety too... this is a really tough time he has gone through and I know all he wants to do is show you, John and his family how much he cares and understands."

Nick should not get star treatment for his wrongful actions, his father is the star. He's just a spoiled kid that is using his father's fame to get away with his stupidity.
