(Oct. 4) - Rachael Ray is denying reports that she is having surgery to treat throat cancer. "Rachael is the picture of health. She is having very minor surgery to remove a benign cyst on her vocal cord," says Charlie Dougiello, a spokesman for Ray. "It's a common in-and-out procedure that she will have in early December."
The National Enquirer had reported that Ray, 40, was scared she had throat cancer, which would require surgery that would prevent her from speaking for two months. Dougiello said the procedure will not "adversely effect any of her daytime show or Food Network tapings."

She doesn't have to talk. She should've let the FOOD do all the talking.I don't listen to her talking anyway, I just look at the food.I can't believe it she was abusing her vocal cord like that....I hope she doesn't smoke and I hope she stop drinking coffee. She doesn't need to work so hard now, she made it... All she needs to do is sit back and relax and just become an actress or something.

Glad to hear it's not cancer, but Rachael's constantly hoarse voice sounds an awful lot like that of admitted bulimics Joan Rivers, Blythe Danner and many, many others. I hope that isn't the case, but there's a lot of pressure to stay thin while being a spokesperson for good food!

I would think her history of Bulimia could be a culprit to a throat condition.
