'TRL' debuted on September 14, 1998 with host Carson Daly. Originally titled, 'Total Request,' the first episode did not include the live (and loud) audience it is best known for. MTV should be put out to pasture. It's gone from giving us memorable videos from the likes of Nirvana and the whole Seattle drive to even the lame pop of NSync and BSB to giving us things like shows about Paris Hilton looking for a friend and made media sensations out of all the super-untalented people of the Hills. MTv creators, if they're dead, are rolling over in their graves. MTv used to be about the M... which for you younguns out there means 'music'. Videos is all they would ever play. All the time. They even had genre shows: 120 minutes, (my fave), Headbanger's Ball, Yo' Mtv Raps and had news revelant to music. Now it's drivel. I've said it once and I'll say it again: I feel sorry for this generation and the music that will be memorable for them. Not only does it suck but it won't have the same personality that it did for us that remember. I WANT MY MTV!!! LOL ... Apparently, no one else does.

MTV is a meaningless relic. If cable ever gets go to a menu basis for channel purchase, MTV is D.O.A. I remember when MTV signed on. First song "Video Killed The Radio Star". Now it's IPOD killed the Video Channel.

Neither TRL, nor the station that it airs on, are about the MUSIC anymore, so it's a good thing they're taking it off the air. Back in the day when BSB, N'Sync, O'Town, 98 Degrees, Britney Spears, Fred Durst, Emenem and many others were appearing regularly and their full videos were being shown, TRL was one of my favorite shows. Think what you will of Carson Daly, but the true demise of TRL began when he left. It was never the same and I stopped watching it after that. I will miss the old times and I'll watch the last show, but I can't be sad. I have great memories of when MTV was in the business of MUSIC, not the "reality" crap they air now.

Wow that show is still on? Man i tune in to MTV every once in awhile to watch their silly "reality" tv and I've never seen TRL on the schedule. Hell I haven't seen it since MMUSA was on, (the station currently known as FUSE).

I wish there was truly an end of an era of ALL ABOUT HERSELF DRESSES LIKE SHE'S A 16 YR. OLD ***** Mairah Carey..now that would be something to celebrate. And I'm not f*cking jealous of her, her face is shaped like Mr. Potato Head. She's a STUCKUP Prima Donna who thinks she's better than all the other femlae singers out there.
