(Jan. 7) - 'Full House' star Jodie Sweetin and her estranged husband Cody Herpin attended their first joint mediation session this week in order to discuss the custody of their 9-month-old daughter. Sweetin's lawyer told PEOPLE that the two "are working hard to avoid a protracted custody battle."
At a December 17 hearing, a judge ruled that custody over their daughter, Zoie, was to be shared 50-50. The custodial time would take place at her parents' home where she currently lives, or if not at home, in the presence of one of her parents.

"They're trying to work things out regarding the sharing of their child," attorney Wilma Presley says. "As far as reconciliation as a couple goes, in family law, you just never know."
"Jodie is doing very well," Presley adds. "She had a very nice Christmas. She had her daughter on Christmas Eve and morning, and so far, the sharing has been smooth. There haven't been complaints from either side."
After just over a year of marriage, Sweetin filed for legal separation from Herpin on Nov. 19, seeking joint custody of their daughter. Herpin responded with his own filing on Dec. 4, seeking sole custody.

Mandey...You're so very right. But, there are also idiots out there like the ignorant ones that have decided to post a comment here that have NO CLUE what they're talking about.I thank GOD that my husband is one of those wonderful men in the world. If, GOD forbid, anything were ever to happen to me...I firmly believe my husband is more than capable of caring for our children. I wouldn't have had children with him if I didn't believe that. But, I'm not HEARTLESS...I DO have sympathy for those that make bad choices here and there. WE ALL DO...even people as self-rightous as SOME PEOPLE on here seems to be. And sometimes those bad choices include choosing the wrong "parenting partner" or having children at inopportune times. It happen to some of the BEST people in the world. And, I have sooo much respect for those people that CHOOSE to be parents (like in this case) rather than taking the easy way out & just walking away.

okay that is just so silly. i have actually known several men that have wanted full custody of their children due to an inadequate (to say the very least) mother. was it for the money? NO! it was because they were concerned for the well being of their child/children. no it didn't 'cramp' their lifestyle and yes a few of them have gone on to marry another woman that loves them and their child/children and do not mind taking care of them as if their own. is it so hard to believe that a man can have a strong bond to their own child. Hello! he may not have carried them during pregnancy but they are a part of his body too! my husband loves our children and i am really proud to say there are good men that LOVE and WANT to be there for their kids!

To all the men out there complaining about the mother of their kids, guess what? You picked her! If she's a moron, has the maternal instincts of a rock, a *****, drug addict, stripper, etc., that's the woman YOU chose to knock up. So, whose fault is that? YOURS! Maybe you should get to know a woman better before you plant your seed. Ever heard of condoms? They do work you know. I have no sympathy for stupid women who have kids they have no idea how to parent. Or, the stupid men who get them pregnant and then bitch and gripe about what lousy mothers they are. The world is filled with too may idiots making babies who should not be allowed to procreate. I dispise women on welfare who have babies just to collect a check. Or, hold onto a man. And, I dispise men who get women pregnant because they hate using condoms and believe birth control is a woman's responsibility. If your baby's mama is causing you drama, that's your problem. You could have worn a condom or kept it in your pants. Then ...

Right on Pipercon- my neighbor next door got 80% custody of his two daughters when they were pretty young and his exwife got 20%. She only used 10% of her custody. She really didn't want any kids. They of course lived with there dad and so far have turned out great. He remarried and now has two more kids.

I would like to let all of the women know that a judge decided that I, not my exwife should have custody of our 4 year old daughter, not because she was a bad mother but for the fact that I had a steady job and she had not completed her senior year of high school (did not know this fact until after we were married) and had no intention of finding a job or completeing her education in any way. When the judge asked her how she was planning on supporting her, her reply was she wanted child support and also alimony (although she was not eligible for it) to support her and our daughter. The judge took that statement alone and awarded me primary custody with 65/35 custodial rights. My daughter is now 14 years old, a straight A student who is on the 3 school sport activities, several clubs, volunteers at the community nursing home and has more friends than I can keep track of. She was also the homecoming queen. Her mother now works in a factory with her 3rd husband making 7.50 an hour wit...

Hello Doom2ruler???? You have obviously NEVER been on welfare or received food stamps or you would have never made such an asinine comment. Having been there at one point in my life, trust me, it is not all it's cracked up to be! They only pay you enough to pay the rent and possibly one bill each month, if you're lucky. Food stamps give you enough to survive each month with no luxuries or special treats. No woman in her sane mind would like to stay on welfare any longer than she has to. Besides, they only give it to you for 3 yrs. and then you are done for life, no more help. Check things out before you open your big mouth next time

Victoria, the only person on here that seems to be delusional is YOU! If I were to compare & contrast the single moms & dads I know...the MOMS are the ones more likely to be money-hungry in a custody battle! I've NEVER seen a man fight for custody of his child for money...WOMEN do it ALL THE TIME!!! Now, I am MOST DEFINITELY not saying all single moms are like that...there are WONDERFUL single mothers out there...my mother was one of them. I'm not even saying most moms are like that...II'm just saying, that from what I've observed, men much less likely to fight for custody for monetary purposes. If all they cared about was not having to pay child support, they'd sign over their rights. I take this VERY personally because of those around me going through similar situations and getting f***ed because of the ignorance of people like you. It's closed-minded crazies like you that keep GOOD, LOVING FATHERS from gaining custody of their children. I've seen so many wonderful fathers SCREWED be...

Are u people kidding me????? Why wud a father want custody of his child? Maybe because his wife was a crystal meth addict and an alcoholic. And he found out she is drinking again. Maybe thats why he would want to take his child from her. Not everything is about money. Which I doubt she has much of.
